A Bachelor of Design (B.Des. or B.Design) degree is usually an undergraduate academic degree awarded for a course or major that generally lasts three or four years.

This programme is aimed at creating professionals who can contribute to the highly dynamic and competitive world of Design.Students learn how to develop basic know-how and skills making effective use of the sketchbook, explore recording methods, develop visual perception, acquire professional attitudes to set projects and show a critical, contextual and historical awareness in the areas of design.

Eligibility Criteria for B.DES


For joining a Bachelor in Design course students need to clear 10+2 in any stream from a Government recognized Board. They must have passed 12th with more than 45% of marks. Few institutions also carried out entrance exams, which the students need to pass in order to get admission. Design Courses are particularly meant for talented individual who desire to spread out their hidden talent and get recognition for it. B.Des is an apt course for those who want to make their profession a passion.

Admission Procedure for B.DES


For B.Des Architecture students will have to appear in entrance exams like IIT JEE or AIEEE etc. For courses like B.Des Fashion designing or Interior designing etc SOFT, NIFT, NEED are few of the entrance exams. Interested candidates can submit an application for the course through online and offline method. The admissions are based on the entrance test and also according to the rules of the concerned authority. The marks scored in the entrance test along with the score at +2 levels are the main criterions for selection.


How to fill in M.Des Entrance Application form


The initial step is to collect the application form from the respective authorities by paying the required amount as fee. The candidates need to read the instructions provided in details in the prospectus before filling the application. Never make any sort of mistakes or false detailing about age, marks, mailing address etc. Candidates will be asked to attach the required documents proving the education qualification, age etc, which should be attached along with the application. The candidate must always fill their application form in their own handwriting. Make sure to send the dully filled application to the mailing address before the due date.

B.ARCH ENTRANCE EXAM OVERVIEW

NATA JEE PAPER2 & IIT B.ARCH

NATA TEST For B.Arch Studies

There are two parts in this test

1. Drawing:(2 hours)

Test Structure: Consists of 3 Questions for 100 marks consisting of a 2D (25 marks), 3D (25 marks) and Theme sketch (50 marks)
Evaluation Basis: Sketching ability, Light and Shadows, Sense of Perspectives, 3D & 2D compositions, Understanding Scales, Colours and Visualisation of daily activities.
2. Aesthetic Sensitivity:(1 hour)

Test Structure: 40 MCQ's (Multiple Choice Questions) from topics like Architecture Awareness, Identification of Commonly used materials, 2D & 3D Visualization, Mental Ability, Analytical Reasoning, Imaginative comprehension and expression.
Evaluation Basis: Measures perception, imagination and observation, creativity and communication along with architectural awareness
NOTE 1: The Aeshtetic Sensitivity test is a Computer Adaptive test with each question assigned a difficulty level. The test tries to ascertain the ability of each student. Thus, two students may get the same number of questions correct, however, their scores may differ based on the difficulty levels assigned

NOTE 2: Students are allowed 5 attempts and the score of the highest attempt will be considered as the final score


JEE Paper 2 For B.Arch Studies


There are 3 parts in this test with a total test duration of 3 Hours

Part 1 Mathematics and Part 2 Aptitude Test:

Part 1 Test Structure: 30 MCQ's (Multiple Choice Questions) from topics related to Analytical Reasoning.
Part 2 Test Structure: 50 MCQ's (Multiple Choice Questions) from topics like Architecture Awareness, Identification of Commonly used materials, 2D & 3D Visualization, Mental Ability, Imaginative comprehension and expression.
Evaluation Basis: Each correct answer carries 4 marks. For each wrong answer 1 mark will be deducted. For unanswered questions there will not be any deductions of marks. For multiple answers, 1 mark will be deducted.
Part 3 Drawing Test:

Part 3 Test Structure: Consists of 2 Questions for 70 marks consisting of a 2D (20 marks), 3D (20 marks) and Theme sketch (30 marks)
Evaluation Basis: Sketching ability, Light and Shadows, Sense of Perspectives, 3D & 2D compositions, Understanding Scales, Colours and Visualisation of daily activities.


Architecture Aptitude Test For IIT B.Arch Studies


This test is similar to JEE Paper 2 with a total test duration of 3 Hours

A student keen on pursuing their B. Arch at IIT Kharagpur or IIT Roorkie must clear JEE Mains, JEE Advance and AAT

Dear Student,


Here are the answers to some questions asked on our website about JEE 2016.


  • Paper 1 and Paper 2 of JEE are totally SEPARATE. The marks are used separately.
  • Paper 2 and Paper 1 Marks are never added . 
  • For IIT B.Arch you have to pass Paper 1 and NOT Paper 2.
  • For NITs and SPAs you have to pass Paper 2 and NOT Paper-1
  • Paper 2 Rank list is separate from Paper-1 mark rank list.
  • Paper 2 rank list comes in July whereas Paper-1 rank list come in month of May.
  • It is NOT necessary to write Paper-1 & Paper 2 both. If you want to study Architcture, only Paper-2 can be taken.
  • Paper 2 marks are considered even if you cannot pass Paper-1.
  • Paper-2 is in Hindi also , so Hindi medium students can also attempt easily.
  • NATA paper is however in English only.
